Shop 3-Way Excavator Ball Valves
A 3-way excavator ball valve is a hex-stem diverter: three ports and an L-port ball that routes flow from a common inlet to either of two outlets — a 90° wrench turn switches which one. It's the valve that lets one auxiliary circuit feed two attachments (thumb and grapple, breaker and shear) without swapping couplers.
We stock two lines, both in the tables below: the Italian-made Gemels GV3 (7,250 PSI in 3/8" and 1/2", 5,075 PSI in 3/4" and up) and the Anchor Fluid Power AV3 from U.S.-based Anchor (5,075 PSI on all sizes, NPT or SAE). L-Port vs. T-Port
Excavator-style 3-way valves ship with an L-port ball as standard: the L-shaped bore in the ball turns 90° to route the bottom (common) inlet to either side outlet, and the two outlets can never connect to each other. That's what you want for attachment switching — one feed, two destinations, no cross-flow.
A T-port ball adds a position that connects all three ports at once, so the inlet feeds both outlets together. On these valves the detents give a T-port two working positions — all-three-connected, or inlet to a single outlet — there is no straight-through/bypass position. One plumbing rule applies to every Gemels 3-way, L or T: pressure must feed from the bottom (center) port — the manufacturer specifies pressure inlet from the center port only.
