These adapters utilize parallel threads, which seal by slightly distorting the threads, similar to NPSM, but with a different thread pitch and dimensions. The female swivel BSPP connector has a tapered nose flareless swivel, sealing against the cone seat of the male connector. Thread sizes are expressed in fractional dimensions with the letter "G" for parallel threads (e.g., BSPP 1/4-19 is designated as G 1/4). Thread sealants are recommended to ensure a leak-tight connection, as BSPP fittings rely on thread distortion for sealing. Although similar to NPT, BSPP fittings are not interchangeable, and care must be taken to ensure proper matching of components for a secure, leak-free connection.
