BSPP and BSPT are similar to NPT, but with differences in thread pitch, OD, and thread form. BSPP uses parallel threads, while BSPT features tapered threads. Sealing occurs by distortion of the threads, so thread sealants are recommended to secure these connections. The male BSPP threads are comparable to NPSM male, but with a different thread pitch, and the female BSPT fitting uses a metal-to-metal seal with a captive seal design for leak prevention.
