BSPT connections are similar to NPT (National Pipe Tapered) but have a different thread pitch and form. These adapters create a seal through the distortion of the threads, so thread sealants are recommended for a secure and leak-free connection. The captive seal is made through metal-to-metal contact or a combination of metal-to-metal and an O-ring.
